Internet Marketing- The Learning Never Stops
Hi everyone,
When first learning about Internet Marketing you must get a good sense of what it is you are going to do. You must have the right ingredients within you to never give up. You must create a plan by writing it down all in front of you and most important, you must take action or else nothing will happen.
My last blog post was about Action- the master gear that makes everything happen. Taking off from there nothing happens with out taking action. There must come a time when the learning stops and the doing begins. Well actually the learning never stops, it’s just now you are learning as you are doing.
Learn the essentials and move on. Don’t make the same mistakes many have made. Avoid getting stuck and staying there. Do something about it! Learn about Internet Marketing and move on as quickly as possible.
As you run into obstacles getting over them is learning. As you move forward and learn more, make sure you keep notes on what you did because often there will come a time when you must get over the same obstacle and you have forgotten what you did previously and it will be like starting all over. Keep good references! Just be aware of this. Don’t make the same mistakes I did.
As you’re doing and taking action, you must know the Internet Marketing scene always evolves, that’s why always staying in touch with what is going on is important. For example: Recently, there was a lot of talk about Facebook. Then creating Facebook like pages easy, was the next big thing. All this is the new wave of Internet Marketing. Twitter is another wave Internet Marketers should know about. You can read a blog post I wrote about Twitter here.
The point is you as a marketer should always be made aware of what’s going on out there in the Internet Marketing world. Stay on top of all changes as they come out. There will always be something, so you must stay on top of it all if you want to market effectively and be in the know and work at your highest potential. You must be in the know otherwise the competition will crush you.
One of the best ways to stay in touch with what’s going on with the Internet Marketing scene is to constantly blog hop. You’ll be amazed on how much you can learn, interject, build relationships and stay on top of what’s going on. Get involved and you’ll see what I mean. Create your own blog and join the fun. Welcome to the 21st century. You can read a good blog post about blog hopping from one of my good friends Barry Wells- Click and learn http://barry-wells.com/the-benefits-of-blog-hopping-keep-getting-better-and-better/
If you are just starting out and want to know about Internet Marketing there are a few solid products I can recommend that are of high value that I have used myself.
Your Own eBook Business I highly recommend it because not only will you learn about selling information on eBay, you will also get your own eBook website, just like mine here at http://www.liferitenow.com Click the link and learn how to set it up once you make a purchase. You can change the look of this website so it doesn’t have to look exactly the same. Also I want you to know there is a lot more value, than what I am explaining here so click away and check it all out.
Another great resource is Jim Cockrum’s Silent Sales Machine. Jim explains how you can turn eBay into an automatic cash machine. Also he shows that the opportunities to earn are all over the Internet. Click here for more info.
One thing I also want you to know is there are a lot and I mean a lot of Ads that will peak your interest, that’s what they’re meant to do, avoid getting bombarded, purchase only what you know you will need. I also want to tell you don’t make your email box attack you with tons of emails.
Listen to what I’m saying here because all of this will only lead to information overload. Keep your inbox clean and only buy what you need so your brain doesn’t explode because of too much information. Stick with a few quality products, stay focused and start moving forward. Again I can’t stress enough there must come a time when you must take action and learn as you go. The learning never stops.

Hey Terry
Barry is a perfect example of how blog hopping has many many many more benefits than simply driving traffic, I loved his blog post.
I always try and take action every single day, even if it’s just something small to take my business forward, it doesn’t matter so long as I do something each day.
One of my main problems used to be focusing on finishing, I would have all these great product ideas and I would plan them out… then never focus on finishing them!
Then I would get more ideas… and start planning them… then more ideas and start planning them… I was stuck in a planning nightmare lol, but thankfully I am not like that anymore.
Your latest series of posts have been excellent, truly valuable, and helpful, give us more of same plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz lol.
Speak to you soon,
Sally

Hi Sally,
Yes Barry’s post is very good enlightening information. That’s why I mentioned it on my post here.
I like what you said about doing something each day for your business. It is a must if you want to get anywhere. The more you do the better it is, but when things get nuts just do something.
You have to be a builder so to speak so doing something everyday so it just builds on top of the last thing you did.
About focusing on finishing, many will get so caught up in this trap and remain still without moving forward. It’s imperative this trap is brought to light so it can be avoided.
Thanks for the good words Sally,

Hi Terry,
I completely agree that the learning never stops!
I learn a new thing every day and sometimes that isn’t even with the online stuff.
In order to stay on top in this industry or any business for that matter it is important to keep up with the times.
I recently had an experience just after my cat Missy died. I was looking for a place to cremate her to keep her ashes. I googled and found what looked like a nice company online.
I called them up and they then promptly told me I had to send them a cheque or money order deposit before they would process my cat. That meant 5 days for the cheque to clear and get to them, It was going to be a 2 week turn around.
I asked about bank deposit, they said no. I asked about credit card, they said no, I then asked about paypal and they said ‘What is that?”
OMG I wonder how they are still in business??
I ended up hanging up in frustration and found another business where it all worked out fine and quickly.
The moral of my message is that if businesses what to remain in business whether it be online or offline they will need to keep learning, and keep evolving. It is the nature of the game now.
Hope all is going well.
See you back here soon.
Cheers
Jacinta

Hi Jacinta,
You’re so right, learning isn’t only with Internet marketing. It’s a law of life. It’s just a healthy natural law to seek to learn something new every day. Knowledge is power.
I like the example you give us about this company not making it easy for the customer. One golden rule is to make it as easy as possible for the customer so a sale can be made.
This company is definitely throwing money away by not keeping up with the times. They lost you. I wonder how many other customers they lost.
Thanks for visiting and your good input Jacinta,

Wonderful advice Terry…
I particularly resonated with this statement:
“As you move forward and learn more, make sure you keep notes on what you did because often there will come a time when you must get over the same obstacle and you have forgotten what you did previously and it will be like starting all over.”
I am guilty of that! Learning something and not writing it down…so then the next time I have to relearn it! Not a great use of time
And, blog hopping is the answer to learning so much for absolutely nothing! I am truly amazed at what I learn on the days that I blog hop!
I hope you come to my blog and join the fun to win Camtasia Terry…you’ll have as good a chance as anyone

It’s very important to bring to light the mistakes we make in order to help others. Learning and not filing away the information for future reference is a big time consumer.
Not only do you create a place where you can go for how to information in the future but if you don’t know it you are also creating a good informational product or bite size information pieces as well to share with others.
Sharing helping others making Internet life a lot easier for others is a wonderful feeling.
You can get so much out of blog hopping. Great point you made about not paying for it. It’s one of the best ways to learn things, meet fantastic people and get results. Off I am to your blog…

Hey Terry
If I’d of only read a post like this when I first started you would of saved me a whole lot of frustrations not to mention money!
I fell down the trap of learning everything at once and getting knowwhere when really I should of just learnt what I needed to do to get something up, running and working before I even thought of anything else.
My problem was I’d signed up to that many peoples lists and as soon as I got an email about the latest product that was gonna change my life for ever…..
I ended up buying it and then spent ages learning how it works when really I didn’t need to be doing it yet anyway yet.
Thankfully I woke up and smelt the coffee and now I only buy what I need for one project at a time and I don’t let myself become distracted from what I want to do.
You are sooooooooo right…
No matter what level you are online you are always learning something new and if you are not prepared to change and keep up with the times then unfortunately your gonna get left behind.
Take care and I’ll catch up with you soon.

I believe it is important to let everyone know about this because the way it is out there in the Internet Marketing arena, it’s so easy to get overloaded with information that it can mean the difference between just giving up and continuing forward.
Being in the know full circle and keeping up with the latest trends is the only way to go.

This is another great post Terry in what is proving to be a great series.
I would now advise anybody when they first start out online to get a good teacher / Mentor straight from the off as this will give you the benefit of a great foundation.
I have to agree with you Terry the learning never stops, as you advance online it’s a continuing learning curve as new ideas and products appear in the market.
I like the point you make regarding keeping notes on how you get over obstacles for future reference, great advice one which I wish I had learned earlier!
Not only was Barry’s post on blog hopping excellent, but he is a brilliant example to us all on how to interact with people to get the best out of them.
Also great advice of email bombardment Terry, a lot of what hits your inbox is worthless most of the time and they are only after making a quick buck!
Great advice and guidance all round Terry, great post, keep them coming my friend.

Hi there Terry,
I agree with all other remarks.
The one most important thing when first starting out with internet marketing is, understanding the beginning and visualizing the destination.
The problem today with a significant number of the so called gurus they all want your money but, only supply regurgitated crap.
Those that have been more fortunate and who have linked up with the likes of John Thorhill or Dave Nicholson have a 95% chance of success.
Because, they are two professional marketers who provide the mechanisms required to be successful and back it up by teaching their students the correct principles to be successful.
So, needless to say I liked your post.
Oh, while on blogs, why not pop over to my site and have a look around. While your there please leave me some feedback as that would be appreciated.

Thanks for visiting, commenting and liking my blog post. In order to understand the beginning and the destination you must get to learn how the whole Internet marketing concept works.
In order to find out how it works, one must buy good reputable info products. There are a lot of bad marketers out there on the web.
John Thornhill and Dave Nicholson are honest full of great information marketers. They provide value and are a great example of the way marketers should be.

Hi Terry, Thank you very much for the mention and for linking to my recent blog hopping post, it’s very much appreciated Terry thanks
This is another great post with great advice my friend.
I especially like the line about getting over obstacles being a lesson and making sure we take notes of how we got over them. I often make little eBooks with my settings etc just to make sure
I also find it can help others when i see they have the same issue (s).
Welcome to the 21st century you had me chuckling there Terry but you’re absolutley right my friend. Blogging really does offer us so much and it’s just a case of finding and reading. I honestly wish I had started blogging long before i did as the benefits are endless (as i pointed out in my last blog post).
If people want to set up an eBook store then your own ebook business by JT is certainly the easiest way of doing so. All the tools are in place as well as all the guides you’ll need. The new set up is so easy to do my wife could it and she never uses a PC. Not only that but adding new eBooks to the site is sooooo easy and means that our content is forever being updated.
You’ve given some excellent advice about the Ad’s and emails that bombard our inbox. They can be such a distraction and stop people moving forward. I’ve unsubscribed from most of them now but still have a couple in case they ever send me something related to the reason I joined their list in the first place. But all i do is open them and from the first line I know whether it’s related or not and if it isn’t it’s deleted before I get to the 2nd line.
Terry this is a fantastic post, keep them coming my friend.
Like you rightly said The Learning Never Stops

Hey Barry,
While I was on the topic of talking about blog hopping I couldn’t help but think about your blog post, it just adds to what I am communicating.
Almost everyone commenting here states my line about not forgetting when you learn something, to make a reference so you can go back and just do the task again instead of wasting time looking around for the info, feeling like you are learning it all over again.
Seems like we all go through this or have been through this. I felt like I was the only one who has this problem. You give such a great idea about writing mini eBooks about what you learn (even videos, great idea!} so you can use these mini eBooks yourself and at the same time use them to help others. It’s a wonderful way to solve this problem.
The best way to have your own eBook website up and running easy is to get John Thornhill’s Your Own eBook Business. I don’t know of any other product that delivers so much for the price.
Let me end by saying we all have to be real careful not to get bombarded with tons of emails. It’s another a real easy trap to fall into.
The 21st century is here and if it weren’t for blogging I would not know a lot of things about marketing as I do now. I am trilled to have learned so much and have met such great people.
Thanks for being there Barry.

- I’ve learned the hard way on this! Now, for me it’s about creating systems that allow me to do something over and over, easily and quickly.
You’re right about IM always changing and evolving. Sometimes I really don’t appreciate this, like when I’ve finally mastered how to successfully do something and it’s now an out-dated model.
But constant change keeps me on my toes and my brain working.

I also agree that we should combine action with learning because the best learning experience we can have is by doing.
I like your advice in keeping notes for future reference. I know how frustrating it can be to search for the same information again and that’s where my Evernote comes handy. I clip all articles and how-to tutorials that I feel I will be needing again at a later time.

Wow, strong words of wisdom here in your post. Learning never ends and then again to make notes. But sometimes I can not even find my notes. So what do I do then? You did not think that there are more dumb people in IM than you can imagine, you tried your best. I agree with you here.
Actually Terry learning is nurturing your brain and providing it the food it needs to keep working. if you don’t use it you lose it
So, I do not mind that, but what I don’t like is, it is never enough.

Hey Terry, can’t agree with you more. The key to success in online marketing is to stay on top of your game. Always be aware of the who, what where and when in the ever changing internet world. There was a time when I went on a month long vacation and did not go online (purposely) for the whole duration of my trip. When I logged back in, there was so much new stuff already that it felt like I was gone for a year! By the way, thanks for the useful links.

Hello Thomas,
Absolutely, when it comes to Internet marketing though there are those out there that think you can make money overnight just with a couple of clicks.
Even automate everything. Automation is great, but what most selling the Internet marketing dream don’t tell you is you have to work to keep everything automated. Overall there is work to do.
There are people out there that think they can make money easy. Then there are sales pitches that fill this need. The person buying spends money and gets ripped off. Nothing happens except the marketer selling the dream is the only one that makes money.
Being dishonest in this business will get you a bad name. Money off these type products does not last long. There is no way around it, honesty is the best policy. Give and you shall receive.
If there was a fast way to make money, everyone would be doing it, no?
There is a whole lot of work and learning to do in Internet marketing and like everything else in life, the learning never stops.
I hope anyone reading this has learned something.
Thanks for leaving your short and very important heavy comment, Thomas.

Hi Robert,
Change is always upon us in life and in our Internet marketing world.
Good point about video. I remember when the Internet was only text and links. Just look how far we’ve come.
Now with Twitter, Facebook, etc.. there are so many new avenues out there we can use to build relationships, learn, help each other and even make sales. I wonder what will be next?
What’s great is that it’s all free. It only takes some work but the rewards are very worth while.

You are so right – the knowledge is pointless if one isn’t going to do anything with it.
I can relate very well to the information overload. A few months ago I was signing up to every newsletter and what not ….. OMG! Just recently I done another good clear out in my mail-box and it does make a huge difference there.
And yes, writing down what you’ve done is also something I’ve started doing. I’d found on a couple of occasions I’d done something, then wondering how the hell I’d done it.
Great stuff there Terry, thanks

Terry,
You are so right about learning as you go.
I think there are two traps in internet marketing. The first is thinking you have to learn before you can do and by doing that never getting around to doing. The second is all of the hype products that people want you to buy.
I have gotten stuck in both of those traps and it is so easy to get in them.
I think what you said here is great though.
Learn as you do!
Only buy what you need!
I also have to agree with write down how you do something. I don’t know how many times I have had to go do the same thing again and had to research how to do it all over again because I could not remember how to do it and had not written down what I did.
The only other thing is organize your notes well so you can find them again. I finally started using OneNote to organize my notes and that seems to work pretty well. At least I do not search as long as before.
Thanks for a great informative post.

Hi Terry,
I finally made it, sorry for the delay.
I agree with the majority of what everyone has said that the learning never stops. Even at my age, I’m still a work in progress. In the business sense, things are always changing and evolving so you have to continue to keep up with what’s new and the different ways to do things.
Barry did a wonderful job in his post as well explaining why blog hopping can be so beneficial. He’s someone to definitely follow because he can teach you a lot. Okay, I just happen to like the guy too!
You provided some good suggestions for the person just starting out. Like you said, we’ve all wasted so much time online trying to find what works and what doesn’t so take it from someone who knows what they are talking about and has been down that road before.
Great read today Terry, thanks for sharing this with us. I’ll see you again soon.

Hi Terry
I agree that it’s important to blog hop, but I actually believe that it’s more important to find some “favorite” blogs (and people) and stay with them. I’ve learned a lot from staying with the right people. That’s people with the right mind set, and who are not stopping for anything. They keep learning, and evolving.
What I do, is that I read 95% of the same blogs, and 5% new blogs (or something like that). This way I get the chance to experience new blogs, but I will still keep learning from the people I have been following for a long time.
To me, the most important part of Internet marketing, is to create relationships with people in your niche. This way we can help them, and they can help us. That’s been the most important part of my journey so far.
… and always be experimenting. I have recently joined Google+ and I am testing various ways to use it.

Blog hopping is a biggie. The more new blogs we visit the more chance we have to meet like minded people and help each other out, build relationships, learn and get free traffic.
The more like minded people we meet the more these/we people will let others know about us/each other.
Blog hopping can be like a small snowball rolling down a hill becoming huge.

Hey Terry!
When someone gets involved with internet marketing then he will NEVER stop learning! New techniques & strategies are created every day. There is so new information created in our industry that if someone doesnt just keep up with it he will stay behind.
BUT learning is not effective if you dont take action. Taking action on whats really important will help you move in the industry.
Many newbie marketers fail because they are following a different way to make money online even before completing what they first learned. This leads them into buying all the latest information and the newest techniques BUT without taking action so they never make money online.
Thats sad but I will admit that I was that guy too!
Keep up the good work!

Hey Terry,
You are right about always learning new things. It is important to take action and not get stuck in the learning rut. What good is knowledge without application?
As for taking action everyday. An IM friend of mine once told me that the important thing is that you DO take action. Some days you might not have time or you feel overwhelmed or tiered. So, each day make sure you complete one task, no matter how small and you can be satisfied that you are taking action. One day you might blog hop and only make one comment.
The point is, you are taking action! Obviously, you don’t want everyday to go like this. But, to keep in the mindset that you need to take action everyday is a great habit to get into.
Take care,
~Jeremy
