Hi everyone, I’ve been writing blog posts, getting help/ getting involved in the John Thornhill Masterclass forum, going to and commenting getting help/involved on other forums as well, reading other peoples blogs, commenting on other peoples blogs, and writing my new ebook informational product that is becoming difficult to complete because of other things life is throwing at me.
The main thing is when it’s done, it’s done. I am not going to rush it. It’s going to take as long as it is going to take because I want to do it right and when completed I know the product will be a high quality product to help people solve a problem. Do not rush writing an ebook, it will not be quality if you just slap it together for the sake of finishing it. Yes, I know it can be frustrating, there comes a point when all you want to do is finish it.
As John Thornhill states in the course, you don’t have to keep up with the course outline as it comes in at a weekly basis. The main thing is that you complete the course. Just like like ebook creation, you can go at your own pace through the course. I am trying to stay up with the course assignments as they come in every week, so far so good, let’s see what happens.
This ebook I’m creating along with everything else I’m doing and coming at me may hold me back. I’m going to go at my own pace however sometimes I feel like I’m burning the candle at both ends. It can get frustrating. I really want to keep up with the Masterclass course on a weekly basis. It has been frustrating to me.
I got an email from a friend and it really hit me good, so good I feel the need to share this with everyone so everyone can get hit the same way I did. I’m not frustrated about keeping up with the Masterclass course anymore as the assignments come in on a weekly basis. I am calm now going at my own pace without frustration.
Read this below, it really hits the target with me when things get all bent all out of shape. It really brings home the idea to force yourself to take a break so you can smell the roses so you can better attack your burdens.
For those of you in the John Thornhill Masterclass who are having trouble picking a niche and/or writing your ebook heed the words below, it may help at this time when some give up or get all bent out of shape. The point here is don’t knock your self out, hit your inner “refresh button” and never give up. Yes, stress can be managed, here’s how:
Stress
A lecturer when explaining stress management to an audience,
Raised a glass of water and asked;
‘How heavy is this glass of water?’
Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.
The lecturer replied, ‘The absolute weight doesn’t matter.
It depends on how long you try to hold it.
If I hold it for a minute, that’s not a problem.
If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my right arm.
If I hold it for a day, you’ll have to call an ambulance.
In each case, it’s the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.’
He continued,
‘And that’s the way it is with stress management.
If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later,
As the burden becomes increasingly heavy,
We won’t be able to carry on. ‘
‘As with the glass of water,
You have to put it down for a while and rest before holding it again.
When we’re refreshed, we can carry on with the burden.’
‘So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down. Don’t carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow.
Whatever burdens you’re carrying now,
Let them down for a moment if you can.’
So, my friend, Put down anything that may be a burden to you right now. Don’t pick it up again until after you’ve rested a while.
Here are some great ways of dealing with the burdens of life:
* Accept that some days you’re the pigeon,
And some days you’re the statue.
* Always keep your words soft and sweet,
Just in case you have to eat them.
* Always wear stuff that will make you look good
If you die in the middle of it.
* Drive carefully. It’s not only cars that can be
“Recalled” by their maker.
* If you can’t be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.
* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again,
It was probably worth it.
* It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to be kind to others.
* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time,
Because then you won’t have a leg to stand on.
* Nobody cares if you can’t dance well.
Just get up and dance.
* When everything’s coming your way,
You’re in the wrong lane.
* Birthdays are good for you.
The more you have, the longer you live.
* You may be only one person in the world,
But you may also be the world to one person.
* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.
* We could learn a lot from crayons… Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.
*A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery

Hi Terry,
Thanks for this valuable blog on stress management. It was such a gift to me. I, like you and probably everyone else, am feeling under a lot of stress right now – and learning to put things in perspective and take a break when you need to is an important lesson.
I love the line about being able to enjoy the scenery when on a detour. Much of my life feels like a detour – but in truth – that detour IS MY LIFE.

Dear Terry,
thank you for your lovely blog post. It is inspiring and full of hope. I could not agree more with you on the importance of taking breaks from your tasks or burdens.
It reminds me of a story about a man who got on the train with his luggage, refusing to leave it, carrying it with him at all times IN the train too… For the train it does not matter, it carries him, the luggage and much more ANYWAY… But we have to get it!
We all have a lot of luggage and stuff with us in life. And we do not have to carry it around all by ourselves and all the time! For life it does not matter. Life goes on anyway…with or without your stuff!!

Hi Terry,
Just what I needed to hear! I get so stressed thinking, “I can’t get behind, I can’t get behind!” And what do I do? Get behind! It’s good to know I’m not the only one, and even better to know I don’t have to “keep up” with the lessons and everyone else.
I also want to write a quality product and I have to admit, I’m slow. I have to pause and let inspiration come to me.
Funny thing, in my daily reader today’s reading was about letting go and letting God: “I will learn to relax my stubborn grip on all the details of my sufferings and allow the solutions to unfold by themselves.” From the book One Day At A Time in Al-Anon. I get great results when I apply these lessons in all areas of my life.
Thank you so much for sharing. It was a powerful reminder and it really helped.

Hi Terry,
What a great post! I am sure that everyone of us goes through a certain amount of stress, whether it be work pressures, health, financial, family issues or any of the other million and one things that seem to happen to us.
Sometimes it can be very hard to get away from stress. The more we stress the more stressful we become. The world is going at such a fast pace these days that it is very hard for people to just stop and think. Everyone of use should have a minimum of 30 minutes ‘me time’ each day to stop and think about all the good things we have. You never know perhaps that 30 minutes might just increase everyday until we realise that we have more good than bad.
As I get older I appreciate life a lot more, infact each morning when I wake up I appreciate that I have another day to live. We only get one life, this is not a dress rehearsal, so we might as well enjoy it while we can.

Hi Terry,
What a nice post! I would love to know where this came from as well. I didn’t complete the Masterclass last year and it was during this phase that I got hung up and very busy with other things. There were other students who fell behind and still completed the course. My perspective is much different this year as I am not putting the same kind of pressure on myself and know that the result will come by persevering! I’m still on Week 10 and just received Week 12′s email, but I’m not stressing. In fact, I haven’t even opened them yet because I’m not comfortably there yet.
Thanks for sharing this Terry! Now, if you try to smell some of the roses more on this journey, I think you will be less stressed and more fulfilled!

Hi Terry, thanks for posting this very useful info. We have all had to deal with the stress of starting an online business, some found it less stessfull than others, but we have all suffered from it at some point.
I’ve had loads of health issues of my own and loads more of my mothers to deal with during the course (of 2009) and am still playing catch up on last years work. I’m not lazy, i had 8 months of bed rest after 2 operations and my mum was at deaths door for a few months. I felt (at times) like throwing the towel in as the stress of it all was getting me down. I could see my class mates moving forward and all i could do was lay there frustrated. I began cutting corners in an effort to keep up, what a mistake that was. I’m now going back over my work, from the salespage onwards and completing it correctly.
I’ve a few ideas for my next products that i have put on the back burner until i have finished last years course work completely and correctly.
I have learnt many things during the course but the main one is Focus on one thing at a time and get that right before moving on.

Excellent post and I empathize / agree with what Barry Wells says above.
I love metaphors because they simplify concepts.
To me, life is like the skin of a drum. Yes, we should stretch it out and play hard but there are plenty of times when silence is good, too.
And creating a band with other instruments…well, that’s the best. There is nothing like a good tune!
If we see our online efforts as extensions of what we really want from life and who we are rather than projects to complete, I think it would go easier for us.

Hi Terry,
Great post and I love the email. I just had a fire experience occur over the weekend which has reminded me about the power of life and appreciation.
I wouldn’t worry about falling behind. I did coaching in 2008 I only got half way through and last years coaching I still have tasks to do! Just take your time, and as long as you do something small every day towards your tasks and goals you will eventually achieve.
Sometimes just writing notes and ideas or checking people’s websites or doing a little brain storming or talking to others is something towards your tasks.
Remember “The tortoise always wins the race!”

Excellent post Terry, I agree totally with Barry Wells above, I’m recovering from 3 heart attacks and have been on the sick for the last 11 months. All this was down to stress of the ‘job’. I am expecting to return to work early July but am going with a whole new outlook..To get out as soon as I can to fulfill my online dream.
I have now got into a position where nothing is going to bother me again if I choose it not too – life is way too short so live it now.
Your next day could be your last day so make your last day count!
‘Stress is a figment of your imagination’ so keep your imagination positive.

Hi, this is really a comforting post, it made me realise what is more important and that is to live every day as though it may be your last, that way you will make the most of your life. We should always focus on what is important and worry less about those things we cannot change. Thank you for sharing this with us.

Don’t we underestimate the power of humour. I’m sure that there are times when we are all stressed both with the course and in our life. However, it just takes a few funny lines and we have forgotten what the problem was. I suppose that it just goes to show that we make things bigger than they are.
By the way I’m only on week 6, problems at work and all that. However, like you, I won’t rush things, what would be the point of that.

Excellent posting. There are a lot of statements but the ‘never getting the $20 back’ really made me laugh. I really admire your philosophy on life. And good luck with the eBook, your right in taking your time and letting it develop. It was a very ideal post how to handle stress. I agree. The longer the time you handle it, the heavier it will be. Did you know that 92% of what we worry about never happens? and that the 8% is usually manageable? So better to release it all. I find those quotes truly amazing. I feel so much guilty on some words. It totally hit me maybe because, truth hurts, but definitely in a nice and helpful way.
